WEB INTERVIEW

1. Describe your Sound, for someone who’s never heard your music?

The sound is hard to describe but we’re told it’s a Melodic Rock N Roll and original early/late Raw Rockabilly sound with a rhythm N Blues style and feel that also has a mixture of a sexy latin essence that pleasantly funnels into each song you hear.

2. How has your music evolved thru time?

Our music and style is constantly changing which makes it hard for most to tell but keeps things interesting and exciting everytime you see us. Before we had more of a raw feel, then we decided to become much more organized, and now we’re able to decide between the two depending on how our week or day went and how the crowd’s feeling too. But we know now that it’s more about making sure everyone is having fun including us while still expressing ourselves and not conforming like others.

3. How was this Band Formed and How did you all find each other?

The band was formed by fate or luck whatever you want to call it. At the time we all had other bands and happened to play the same event. It turned out that Rudy and Beto had seen each other locally at the B of A (we were all based in Baldwin Park at one point). They started talking at the show and both wanted to start a new project. Rudy called a few of his buddies from The Wiseguys to jam out and Beto call up Mike and Hector from Los Los Boogie Boys and they started jamming out. Within the first minute of playing together there was an immediate connection of skill, inspiration, and understanding and we knew it just felt right. It’s been over 2 years now and we’ve been doing it ever since.

4. What inspired your style? What inspired you to become musicians?

Our style is undeniably Rock N Roll / Rockabilly and Latin inspired because of course we are all Chicanos that grew up listening to various styles and artists from Antonio Aguilar to Ramon Ayala, Los Panchos to Los Tigeres Del Norte and at one point in all our lives we got the Rock N roll bug that changed things. The sound of Elvis Presley and all the Sun Records artists as well as a long list of other artists from Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran, Bill Haley and His Comets to Los Llopis/Apsons and generally all the Mexican “RocanRol” groups their interpretation of that sound.
Our love for music just grew to become our Rock N Roll Lifestyle. Because of it We all somehow had an instrument placed in front of us at one point young or old. We were able to stick to it and get something going then began playing in different bands and different music styles and long story short we’re here. I think we all have a long story as to how we got to this point. Maybe one day we’ll write a book. we definitely have enough stories combined to make one.

5. Where have you performed?

We’ve played quite a few different places and usually with promoters and the occasional private house party. We’ve played at the Bamboo Lounge, The Sugar Shack, The Rebel Room, The HullyGully, The House of Blues Anaheim, Characters, The Speakeasy, and so many others. We’ve travelled North to Visalia near Fresno. But I think our favorites have to be the House of Blues, you can’t beat the HOB stage and sound, The Bamboo Lounge always has a killer crowd and it’s 5 min from us. And the The Speakeasy in Santa Ana was probably the most comfortable event we’ve done, Large leather couches with huge flatscreens everywhere and pale ale on tap, hard to beat That!

6. How is your music generally accepted by most?

Recently we’ve noticed the general public has grown to enjoy our style and energy. We seem to always get people dancing even if they don’t necessarily know the trendy dance steps or styles but it’s about having fun regardless! And we still get the support from the Vintage Rock N Roll, Soul, Rockabilly Community. We all have ties in the scene and go to almost all the scene events to hang out and dance with friends and support all the other bands doing the same thing we do which is keeping this music style alive. collectively we all swing, jive, bop and stroll so any chance we get we’re at the record hops and shows.

7. Why did you choose this style of music?

I don’t think you can say we “choose” this music, like we mentioned it became our lifestyle and we almost always have rockabilly, RnB, RocknRoll, Blues playing somewhere in the background so naturally when we play our music or start to write a song it just turns out to have that influence and becomes categorized that way. So i guess you can say we didn’t really choose it, it chose us (as cheesy as it sounds)

8. Describe what happens at one of your rehearsals generally.

We generally rehearse Sunday Mornings, so occasionally we start off by a group breakfast if we’re not too tired from saturday night. we talk about our week and/or weekend even though we usually see each other during the week and we go out together, Then we set up and warm up with a few songs and work on newer songs, Then we go through the set list for what we’re going to play on the following event. we finish up by either going out for Baldwin Park Pizza Co, Tortas Sinaloa or just have a barbecue and invite more friends over too. We make a day of it usually.

9. Besides music, what are some of your other interests.

Well we all have day jobs and spend time with our families, we like going to shows and we dance and occasionally drink… but recently we’ve all become obsessed with shooting pool, Rudy’s a barber has a barbershop in Baldwin Park and he have a pool table so we usually spend alot of time playing there or his home pool table and if there’s alot of us we go to a local pool hall. We plan trips here and there but as of right now family/music are the main concerns, which keep us pretty busy!

10. What’s coming up for your Band?

Currently we’ve got performances scheduled as far ahead as October, we’ve got a trip lined up to Memphis, TN in April the week after VLV, we’ll be doing a Cinco De Mayo Show, The Bamboo lounge, The Sugar Shack, we’re planning to go to Ventura, Fresno, is also in the works along with Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Mexico.
We’re just waiting for Memphis, We’re actually going to record our Album at Sun Studios and we should have the CD release party here in LA, We have a Live CD out which just sold out but we should have them available before the whistle bait!
For the Record…. we’re Independant.

Extra Questions

11. Describe each member with one word:

Alley: Beautiful
Rudy: “Paulie”
Beto: “Jimmy”
Hector: “Henry”
Mike: “Tommy”
-GoodFellas

12. Pick one, Are you seeking fame, fortune, respect, a fun party?

We actually had a long discussion about this when we first started. It is and always will be the same thing, RESPECT.

13. What’s your most embarrassing experience?

Don’t think We have one yet, we are pretty easy going and anything that happens we just laugh about it just adds to the fun of the Night

14. Strangest Gig you’ve done?

I don’t think we’ve got a “strange” gig but the gig that stands out the most would have to be Visalia, we took over an existing show being put together by a Hotel at their bar/lounge. We played a very drunken and improvised set then the Bar closed at 12, we didn’t want the party to end and neither did the crowd. We ended up taking the entire crowd back to Dj Javi’s room and it spilled out throughout the top floor of the building. We had a ridiculous after party with bottles and bottle of booze, roman candles burning through vintage slacks, Pizza on the Sealing, Broken bed frames and so on. In the morning, we turned in our room keys and according to Hotel Staff, “Room 317″ and company are considered “Bad People”. It sounds like a normal show/weekend out here in LA but to them it was like Motley Crue/Guns N Roses were in town. They just couldn’t understand it.

15. Tell us why we should be at your next show?

Everyone Should be At our next show because if you like to have fun, we won’t disappoint. we’re not your average band that plays music. we’re Diverse Entertainers and we strive to make sure everyone is having a great time! We’re constantly changing while still keeping things very familiar. We guarantee a great time whether your a wallflower, a social butterfly, a jiver, a stroller. The hopeless romantics and mature couples, as well as the young outlaws. If you haven’t seen us yet, gather your friends and/or family then prepare for a memorable night.
