1. Describe your Sound, for someone who’s never heard your music?
Our Sound is more like a cross between 40’s and 50’s Rnb with a Major MEXICAN rock’nRoll influence. Since We are ALL from East L.A we just have a Natural blend of the cultural Sounds.
2. How has your music evolved thru time?
When We started it was more of a jam session then Some psychobilly, but it was the RnB sound and Mexican Rn’R we all have loved and went for.
3. How was this Band Formed and How did you all find each other?
The band was originally formed by three cousins in 1997, Miguel Rico who picked up lead guitar, David Patino on drums and Jorge Patino on vocals and rhythm guitar. At school they met Alex Cadena who played bass and later joined the band. the band started off punk rock with a slight hint of Psychobilly, we called ourselves The Hellstones. Later we began to play more shows in the rockabilly scence and decided to change the band name and the style of music into something a bit more danceable and simple. We changed the name of the band from the Hellstones to Los Rhythm Rockets and decided to simply play Rock’n'Roll, we got influenced by Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Ritchie Valenz and 60′s spanish artist like Los LLopis, Los Locos del Ritmo, los Apson and Mr. Lalo Guerrero…and many others. Met Chuy Sandoval at some shows, he played alto sax in his school, he joined the band and we began playing shows. We got labeled as an RnB band. Rico quit the band and at
school we met Gilbert Rodriguez, played great guitar and later joined the band. Alex decides to stop playing Bass and decides to pick up the tenor sax instead. Israel a.k.a “Chango” begins to play bass for us at shows…..he later leaves the band for personal reasons. Moises Melchor then steps in to play bass for the band. Alex leaves the band to start to start his own band, with a similar style. We get introduced to Takao, who later joins the band (which is his first band since coming to the U.S)playing tenor sax. we play some amaizing shows, and in dec 2007 chuy quits the band. the Band then decides to switch things up again and incorporate some brass, they get Hector Patino to join them on the Trumpet. The band is now Gil, David, Moy, Takao, Hector and Jorge.
